MINISTRY OF FINANCE UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS PAYMENT UPDATE – MAY 21, 2021

Unemployment Benefits Payments Update

Friday, May 21st, 2021

The Ministry of Finance can today advise that all persons who have met the required criteria for eligibility for unemployment benefits payments and provided the required documentation have been processed for payment. It should be noted that there are still over 500 applications whose employers have not verified their applications. Also, there are still over 200 applications that are missing supporting documents from the employees, such as bank statements or photo identification.

The Ministry of Finance encourages applicants to work with their employers to confirm that all the necessary verification documents are in place to ensure their application is complete and submitted for review.

Individuals must confirm their employment status before receiving additional payments. Email reminders have been sent to all relevant persons in this regard.

The Ministry is aware of situations where these emails have ended up in people’s spam or junk folders, so please check. These persons should respond as quickly as possible to these emails to allow for the timely calculation and delivery of additional payments.

Persons eligible to receive the Bermuda Government Unemployment Benefits, and have not already applied, can apply on uba.gov.bm.

  • Unemployment Benefits are available to persons in the following categories who meet the relevant criteria:
  • People in bars, members clubs and night clubs under the Public Treasury (Administration and Payments)(Temporary Unemployment Benefit)(No. 3) Regulations 2021.
